We have seen tremendous growth in membership over the past year, which reflects a growing interest in Internet governance within civil society worldwide and recognition that the NCUC is the most effective vehicle for influencing ICANN policy. NCUC now has 101 members in over 40 countries — including 64 organizational and 37 individual members, representing a 125% increase in the number of members since 2008.

With this increase, there are many new faces active in NCUC taking on important roles. All 3 of NCUC’s GNSO Councilors are serving their first term ever on the GNSO Council and are new to ICANN. William Drake and Mary Wong joined the GNSO Council the last year, and Carlos Affonso Pereira de Souza is in his 2nd and final year representing NCUC on the GNSO Council.

Perhaps most importantly, we now have a NCUC representative on every single GNSO Working Group for the first time in 5 years (maybe longer). This helps to ensure that the noncommercial perspective is incorporated in ICANN’s policy and governance activities. Thank you so much for your support and the work you do!
